Orientation for the Japanese Language Traning Course at Mito Campus

On Wednesday, September 25, we organized the orientation, placement test, meeting with the student buddies, and campus tour for incoming exchange students.
This semester, we welcomed 12 exchange students from Korea, China, Brunei, USA, Bulgaria, and Kyrgyzstan.

On September 19, the participant students safely returned from San Francisco.
The students participated in the San Francisco Volunteer Experience Program, in which they learn social issues and diversity in the United States through volunteer activities and community tours. They have learned differences and similarities between Japan and the US through activities such as volunteer work at an organization serving free meals, cultural exchange with local high school students, and community field tour. We would like to express our gratitude to Japan Pacific Resource Network, and all staff members and students of the organizations and school we visited.

On Sunday, September 15, students who participated in the 4-week program in Brunei came back to Japan!
During their stay, students enjoyed attending classes, participating in the various field trips, and networking local students. In addition, this year, the courtesy visit to the Japanese Embassy in Brunei was arranged for our students.

On Thursday, August 1, Aoki Sensei and Seo Sensei, our faculty members, gave an extension lecture for high school students in Ibaraki.
In the class entitled "Introduction to Multicultural Symbiosis, high school students extended their understanding through participating in simulation activities and discussions.

About 70 Japanese and international students from all three campuses of Ibaraki University joined "Ibadai International Camp" on July 6 and 7.
The students enjoyed various activities, campfire, and BBQ, etc.

2019 7/6 - 7/7 International Exchange Camp (July 6-7)

Ibaraki University students and international exchange students participated in an International Exchange Camp on July 6th and 7th at the National Akagi Youth Friendship Center in Gunma Prefecture. Over 70 students from various countries took part in activities such as volleyball, Kin-Ball, walk rally, cloisonne making, and chopsticks making on the first day’s afternoon. In the evening, students enjoyed campfire and games. On the second day, they cooked barbecue and yakisoba, stir-fried noodles.

Regional Project-Based Learning Crossover Faculties IV gave mid-term presentations(June 26)

On Wednesday, June 26, international and Japanese students enrolled in the Regional Project-Based Learning Crossover Faculties IV gave mid-term presentations. This class is a Project-Based Learning (PBL) course in which Japanese and international students work together in groups to promote Ibaraki prefecture in collaboration with the local municipality. In this mid-term presentation, in addition to the staff member from the Ibaraki Prefectural Government, staff members of the Mito Tourism Association and delegates from Anaheim City, USA, which is a sister city of Mito also joined!

Agricultural Experience(Wednesday, May 15)

2019 May.15  Exchange students traveled to the Center for International Field Agriculture Research & Education at Ami Campus today, to take part in an "Agricultural Experience" as part of the Japanese Field Studies class. With the cooperation of Center Director Komatsuzaki-sensei and Sato-sensei (Director, Center for Global Education) exchange students were treated to an actual rice planting experience and later feasted on some delicious Onigiris (rice balls).

Information Seminar on Our Study-Abroad Program(Wednesday, May 15)

On Wednesday, May 15, we organized the information seminar about our study-abroad program. At the seminar, our faculty members introduced various short-term study-abroad programs as well as our exchange program. Students who have been to abroad also shared their experiences of studying abroad.
After the information seminar, we organized the salon for Studying Abroad. Students who went abroad and exchange students from our affiliated universities shared their experiences to students who would like to go abroad.

On Monday, May 13, a staff member of the Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE) gave a talk on volunteering opportunities abroad and TOEFL. After the session, we also organized a consultation session for those who wish to go abroad.

On Sunday, January 27, 2019, we organized the poster presentation for the "Studies in Contemporary Japan" class of the Global English Program. In this class, students were assigned to problematize an issue that international students at Ami campus were facing and propose a transformative solution.

Students created material to help international students understand disaster warnings, purchase halal food, and take public transportation.

At the last section, 3 "half" students of Ibaraki University shared their experiences at the panel discussion session.

The film follows the lives of five “hafus”–the Japanese term for people who are half-Japanese–as they explore what it means to be multiracial and multicultural in a nation that once proudly proclaimed itself as the mono-ethnic nation.

A joint disaster prevention drill was conducted on November 14th, 2019 at the International House of Ibaraki University with the support of Mito City, Mito City International Association and the Mito Gender Equality Association.
Residents of the International House were first lectured on disaster prevention, and later experienced using fire extinguishers, stayed at evacuation shelters and also tasted emergency food.

On Wednesday October 2018, Center for Global Education held the Annual International Exchange Party.
About 130 people enjoyed the party including international students from Mito, Hitatchi, and Ami campuses, tutors, faculty and staff members, and officers of universities and International Exchange Organizations in Ibaraki local cities.
The party was organized and managed by the tutors and international students.
It was a great opportunity for all participants to interact each other by playing BINGO game and costume contest.

After the visit, all of them enjoyed networking at Onyasai, the hot pot restaurant, while eating shabu shabu together!

This year, we received a funding from the Nakajima Foundation in order to deepen our network between Ami International Exchange Association (AIEA) and Ibaraki University.
From today, members of AIEA give Japanese language lessons to international students at the International dormitory every week.
The lessons will be continued until the end of January.

The Center for Global Education at Ibaraki University offers Japanese language classes at Ami campus each semester, which are open to all international students and researchers affiliated to Ibaraki University, and their family members.

We organized an orientation of our Japanese Language Training Course at Mito campus for incoming exchange students and research students.
After the orientation, we hold a placement test.

The Center for Global Education, Ibaraki University, offers Japanese language classes (non-credit) to all international students and researchers affiliated with Ibaraki University, and their family members at Ami Campus.

Welcoming International Students for Semester 2, 2018-2019 (2018/9/25)

We welcomed 9 in-coming international students from our affiliated universities through our student exchange program and 5 government-financed international students to our university this semester.
Students are from Korea, China, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Rusia, Bulgaria, and the USA.
Today (September 25), our student supporters helped in-coming international fill-in the application forms that they need to submit to City Hall. After that, our exchange students went to City Hall with student supporters for the submission.

Joint Program between Ibaraki University and Ami International Exchange Association(2018/9/21)

This year, we received a funding from the Nakajima Foundation in order to deepen our network between Ami International Exchange Association (AIEA) and Ibaraki University.
Our first event was the orientation led by the members of AIEA, a workshop on intercultural communication, and welcome reception for incoming international students.
We had a wonderful time for expanding our network between AIEA and Ibaraki University.

Intensive Japanese Language Course for In-Coming International Students at Ami Campus (2018/9/19–21)

From Wednesday, September 19 to Friday, September 21, we offer the intensive Japanese language course for incoming international students at Ami campus.
19 students from AIMS program, 1 student from Doctorate program, and 2 students who are currently enrolled at our university joined this course.
During this intensive course (4 hours every day), students learned the "Survival Japanese", which is useful for their daily life.

2018 7/7 - 7/8 International Exchange Camp
Ibaraki University students and international exchange students participated in an International Exchange Camp on July 7th and 8th. Over 100 students from various countries took part in activities such as pottery, tea ceremony, table tennis, hiking, barbecue at the National Chuo Youth Friendship Center in Shizuoka located near Mount Fuji.

 

2018年 7月7日と8日に富士山近くの静岡県 国立中央青少年交流の家にて国際交流合宿研修を行いました。100名を超える茨城大学生、交換留学生が探索ラリー、卓球、七宝焼き、茶道、野外炊飯などのアクティビティを国際的な雰囲気の中、体験しました。

Japanese language training course『Sado and Kado Experience』 2018/6/20

 2018年6月20日(水)に前期日本語研修コースの『茶道・華道体験』が行われました。茨城大学近くの茶道・華道講師の自宅に出向き、茶道の精神、茶道のマナーなどのデモンストレーションを受けてから、講師のご指導のもと、お茶を試飲しました。
 また、華道体験では広山流水戸支部長の大内和枝先生、副支部長の根本和子先生のご指導のもと、生け花を体験しました。この茶道・華道体験は茶道・華道に関する知識を学び、実際に体験することによって、日本の伝統文化に関する理解を深めてもらうために、年に2回(前期・後期)実施されています。

Japanese language training course Field trip 2018/4/18

学外研修2018Apr

日本語研修コース学外研修旅行が4月18日(水)に行われ、25名(中国、台湾、タイ、ベトナム、ブルネイ、インドネシア、アメリカ、ブルガリア、ナイジェリア)が参加しました。
研修では、まず茨城大学農学部付属国際フィールド農学サイエンスセンターを訪問し、グローバル教育センター長の佐藤達雄教授(農学部教授)の指導の下、いちご狩りを行いました。また、国際フィールド農学サイエンスセンター長の小松崎将一教授にもお話しいただき、農学部や農場の様子などについても教えていただきました。 その後、筑波山及び筑波山神社を訪れました。残念ながら雨のため、頂上からの景色を楽しむことはできませんでしたが、神社ではお守りやおみくじ、手水舎などを通して日本の文化に触れ、日ごろ勉強している日本についての知識を深めるよい機会となりました。

ブルネイ・ダルサラーム大学で英語を勉強しませんか。
北米やイギリス、オセアニアなどで行われる短期英語研修よりも格安で受講することができます。授業は、英語ネイティブ教員によって行われ、話す・聞く・書く・読むの4技能を向上させるほか、現地の史跡巡りや現地の学生との交流も予定されています。

留学生ガイダンス2018

 4月9日(月)に新入学外国人留学生とチューターを対象にした 留学生ガイダンス を行いました。
ガイダンスでは、留学生活と相談、受験心得、各種奨学金、国民健康保険、資格外活動などに関する説明がありました。全体のガイダンスの後には、新入学外国人留学生とチューターは分科会に分かれ、新入学留学生は基盤教育科目「学術日本語」、チューターはチューター活動に関する説明を受けました。

国際交流夏合宿2018

国際交流合宿研修は茨大で留学生が一同に集う、唯一の合宿です。例年100人以上集まります(半数以上が留学生です)。
今年は7月7日(土)・ 8日(日)に 国立中央青少年交流の家(静岡県)で行います。そんな人気のあるイベントを一緒に作り上げてくれるスタッフを募集しています。 スタッフは合宿のアクテビティや、様々な企画を話し合い、また合宿中は運営に携わります。国際的な合宿の運営に携われる貴重なチャンスですので、やる気のある人、興味のある人は 4/12(木)まで国際交流課の窓口、もしくは下記メールにお問い合わせ下さい。

茨城大学で国際交流 基盤教育科目・教養科目 基盤教育科目には次のような授業が開講されています。これら授業は英語によって行います。英語そのものを学ぶのではなく、英語をコミュニケーションの道具として使えるようになるために様々な方法でトレーニングします。これによって留学に必要な能力の向上にも役立ちます。プラクティカル・イングリッシュだけでは物足りない学生におススメです。 茨城大学で国際交流 茨城大学では留学生と共に学ぶ授業が提供されています。日本語で行う授業もあれば、英語で行う授業もあります。英語による科目は、「英語を学ぶ」のではなく、専門科目を「英語で学ぶ」ための授業です。日本の社会や文化について留学生といっしょに学ぶことができます。

Regional Project-Based Learning Crossover Faculties IV (Intensive Course)

茨城の魅力、一緒にアピールしませんか
「5学部混合地域PBL IV」は、茨城県の協力を得て、外国人留学生と日本人学生が協働で海外に向けて茨城をアピールするプロジェクト型の授業です。
履修者は茨城県の魅力を世界に発信するために現状を分析し、発信方法・内容をグループで話し合って決定し、成果物を作成して実際に発信します!
授業は英語で行われ、茨城大学で学ぶ留学生も履修します!
国際交流や留学、茨城の国際化、英語に興味のある人はぜひ履修してください!
