Japanese Field Studies B: Japanese Technology & Traditions Tour(Sunday, October 23)
On October 23 (Sunday), we conducted the "Japanese Technology & Traditions Tour" with six international students as part of the class called Japanese Field Studies B.
First, they visited CYBERDYNE STUDIO to learn about and experience HAL, a wearable cyborg developed by Professor Sankai of Tsukuba University that can improve, assist, expand, and regenerate physical functions. Next, they visited the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) to see the Space Dome and learn about Japanese space technology. Finally, they visited the Ushiku Great Buddha to experience and learn about Japanese culture and traditions.
Participating students commented, "It was great to learn about Japan's cutting-edge technology and traditions," "I got along well with everyone through the hands-on learning experience," "I got an idea for my research after seeing the satellite at JAXA," and "I was glad the teacher told us about manners at the temple at Ushiku Daibutsu”. Seems like students were able to experience Japanese culture and enjoy learning about it.
