Collaboration with Katsuta Secondary School

Fourth-year secondary school students from the Global Seminar at Katsuta Secondary School and four students from Ibaraki University (two Japanese and two international students) have begun preparations for a “Disaster Prevention Sports Day for Local Residents, Including Foreign Residents” on December 8! The “Disaster Prevention Sports Day” will include a sporting event with a disaster prevention component, where adults and children alike will learn about disaster prevention while having fun. Every Monday, students from Ibaraki University will visit Katsuta Secondary School and work together to prepare for the Sports Day. From the next session, foreign residents studying at the Hitachinaka International Association's Japanese language classes will also participate.

In the first session on October 7, students discussed in groups what kind of activities we could have at the Sports Day. They all sounded interesting and we look forward to seeing them come to fruition!
