Co-Hosting International Conference with Haiphong University (Vietnam)(Saturday, October 26)

On Saturday, October 26, 2024, an international conference on "Innovation and Creativity in Foreign Language Research and Teaching" was held to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the establishment of the Faculty of Foreign Languages at Haiphong University (Vietnam), a partner university of Ibaraki University. The conference was co-hosted by Haiphong University, Ibaraki University, Don State Technical University (Russia), and the Academy of Policy and Development (Vietnam), and was attended by about 200 participants. Professor Yoko Ikeda of the Center for Global Engagement delivered the opening remarks at the opening ceremony. In the Japanese Language Education Subcommittee, Professor Ikeda and Dr. Seo of the Center for Global Engagement gave presentations on "Practices and Issues of Extensive Reading in Japanese Language Education" and "Creating Vietnamese Teaching Materials for Beginner-Level Students for Post-Study and Learning Vietnamese as Pre-Learning for Students Sent to Vietnam in the Following Year".

The subcommittee on Japanese language teaching had a very active exchange of opinions, which further stimulated the cooperation in teaching and research between the two universities. We hope to further deepen the cooperation between the two universities in the future.
