Join us for the oldest orchestra in the world Gagaku Workshop!
Gagaku is a traditional Japanese art that has been passed down for more than 1,000 years.Composed of at least eight types of instruments: the Sho, Hichiriki, Ryuteki, Biwa, Koto, Kakko, Taiko and Shoko, it is also called the "oldest orchestra in the world" and still plays an important role in shrines and imperial events.
We are inviting gagaku musicians to Ibaraki University to hold a workshop where you can actually touch and experience these unique instruments!
Experience with musical instruments is not required, so please feel free to apply. You can also come just to listen to the performance.
There will also be a gagaku performance on the day. Anyone can visit without application, so please enjoy the mysterious investigation that has been handed down since ancient times.
