Disaster Prevention Sports Day (Sunday, December 8)
On Sunday, December 8, in cooperation with Katsuta Secondary School, we held a Sisaster Prevention Sports Day for Hitachinaka citizens including foreign residents. Approximately 130 people participated. The Disaster Prevention Sports Day is an athletic event with an element of disaster prevention, and is intended for both adults and children to learn about disaster prevention while having fun. Foreign residents in Japan tend to be vulnerable to information leakage, especially in times of disaster, and are forced to face various difficulties as “disaster victims.
This activity was managed by 25 students from Katsuta Secondary School, 2 foreign residents living in Hitachinaka City, and 4 students from Ibaraki University (2 Japanese and 2 international students) who participated as part of Ibaraki University's iOP activities. In preparation for the event, Ibaraki University students visited Katsuta Secondary School every Monday.
Positive comments were heard from the participants, such as “It was fun” and “I learned a lot. We also found many points for improvement through the operation of the program, and we hope to make improvements next year and put them into practice again.
