Short-term Study Abroad Program in Slovenia Organized by the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia (Monday, March 10 - Friday, March 21)

A student from Ibaraki University is participating in a short-term study abroad program in Slovenia organized by the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. In addition to Ibaraki University, a total of nine students from Tsukuba University, Osaka Public University, and Gunma University are participating in this short-term program. The two-week program includes learning Slovenian while interacting with local students, joint classes with local students, cultural exchanges, visits to various facilities, and events to experience Japanese culture.

In the Slovenian class, Slovenian and Japanese students worked in groups over the weekend to plan a trip and were assigned tasks to use Slovenian during the trip. After the weekend, each group gave a presentation in both Japanese and Slovenian about what kind of trip they had made and what kind of Slovenian they had used (Japanese students gave their presentations in Slovenian). Even though the Japanese students were only there for one week, we were amazed at how well the Japanese students understood the Slovenian spoken by the local students and how they gave their presentations in Slovenian!

This program will continue for another week!
