COIL Project with Students from Espirito Santo University: Final Presentation (Saturday, June 7)

In the general educatoon class "International Collaboration (Brazil)," a COIL project was being conducted with students from the University of Espirito Santo (UFES), Brazil. COIL is an educational method in which students from universities in two or more countries are connected online and study together under the supervision of faculty members from both universities. In the project activities, the Ibaraki University students live-streamed to UFES students from a location in Japan that is of interest to Brazilian students, and conducted field research in the locations. Fieldworks were conducted at two locations. One was Katsuta Secondary School. The other location was Kairakuen Garden.

On Saturday morning, June 7, students from both schools gathered to present what they had learned through the project. During their presentations, the students discussed the similarities and differences between Brazil and Japan and shared what they had learned from the activity. Participating students gave positive comments such as, "It was good that we were able to work together beyond national borders," "I would like to participate in similar activities again," and "It was good that the students were interested in hearing about my country."
