International Alumni Talk (Wednesday, June 11)
On the afternoon of Wednesday, June 11, 2025, the International Alumni Talk was held by a group of international alumni who graduated from Ibaraki University. A total of 20 participants—including alumni, current international students, and faculty and staff—joined the event both in person and online to reconnect and exchange information.
Following opening remarks by Director Ikeda of the Global Engagement Center, three alumni joined online from Vietnam, Malaysia, and China to share their current professional experiences and reflections on their time at the university. One graduate, now teaching Japanese at a university in Vietnam, spoke about how her study abroad experience helps her support her students. An alumnus from Malaysia encouraged current students to “enjoy the experience at their own pace without feeling pressured.” Meanwhile, an alumna working as a senior executive at a Japanese company’s local subsidiary in China emphasized the importance of the knowledge and lifelong learning mindset she developed at Ibaraki University.
Current students asked questions about the motivations behind studying in Japan and daily life during their stay, to which the alumni responded by sharing personal stories. A graduate who is now working in Japan also participated, expressing joy at being able to return to their alma mater and reconnect with students and faculty.
This event served as a valuable opportunity for former and current international students, along with professors and staff, to engage in meaningful dialogue and strengthen the bonds within Ibaraki University’s global community.
