Tandem Learning Exchange Event Held! (Thursday, November 13)

At Ibaraki University, students pair up with peers from our partner universities overseas and engage in tandem learning using free communication apps such as ZOOM or LINE.

Tandem learning is a learning style where two people with different native languages work together to learn each other’s language and culture. Participants practice their partner’s language and discuss topics of mutual interest in English or Japanese. It’s a great way to experience international exchange without leaving Japan! This year, about 60 students have joined the program.

On the evening of Thursday, November 13, five Ibaraki University students and three students from our partner universities in Korea and Australia took part in an online exchange event.

This event was planned by students participating in the tandem program to give everyone the chance to interact with different partners and strengthen connections among participants. It was a valuable time for sharing ideas and enjoying conversations across languages and cultures.
