Kasama visit(Friday, Nobember 7)

On November 7, 2025, as part of the Japanese Field Studies B course, 22 international students visited Kasama City in Ibaraki Prefecture. It was a full day of experiencing local culture, traditional crafts, and the atmosphere of an autumn festival.

Exploration around Kasama Inari Shrine

In the morning, students explored the area around Kasama Inari Shrine, one of the three major Inari shrines in the Kanto region.
They enjoyed the annual Chrysanthemum Festival, viewing the vibrant floral displays, strolling through the shrine grounds, and trying local street foods. Many also stopped by nearby shops and spent their time freely at their own pace.

Pottery Workshop at Otsu Kouyou

In the afternoon, the group visited Otsu Kouyou, where students took part in a hands-on pottery workshop. With guidance from the studio staff, they used the potter’s wheel to create their own unique pieces. For many, it was their first time working with clay, and their focused expressions showed how engaging the experience was.

Kasama, known for its rich history, natural beauty, and traditional crafts, offered students a valuable opportunity to experience Japanese culture through all five senses.
Blessed with clear autumn weather, the visit became a memorable day filled with learning and cultural discovery.
