Classroom Exchange with Michigan State University (4th and Final Session)
On Tuesday, December 2, ten students enrolled in the Japanese Language Teacher Training Program course Japanese Pedagogy I and three students from the course Global Collaborative Learning (Minnesota) participated in an online classroom exchange with 35 students from Michigan State University in the United States.
This session marked the final exchange of the semester. Continuing from previous sessions, students in Japanese Pedagogy I designed and conducted interactive activities in Japanese for MSU students, who are learning Japanese. They created engaging tasks such as conversation practice and games, carefully considering the learners’ proficiency levels and interests.
Meanwhile, students in Global Collaborative Learning (Minnesota) carried out interviews in English related to their ongoing research projects. This provided an opportunity to practice language skills and gain insights through intercultural dialogue.
Through four sessions of exchange, participating students strengthened their practical teaching skills and intercultural communication competence. Applying classroom theory in real-life situations and collaborating with overseas peers offered invaluable experience that will benefit their future careers in education and international fields.
