Students Depart for the 2026 Spring Short-Term Study Program in Haiphong, Vietnam (Sunday, March 1)

On March 1, 2026 (Sunday), twenty-four students departed for Haiphong, Vietnam to participate in the university’s Spring Short-Term Study Program. This year, nineteen students joined the 18-day program, while five students embarked on the 35-day Japanese language education practicum. With excitement and anticipation, the students set off toward their respective goals.

Haiphong, the destination of the program, is a vibrant port city located about 100 km from Hanoi and close to the World Heritage Site of Ha Long Bay. Using our partner institution, Haiphong University, as their base, students will deepen their learning through interactions with local students and community members.

Students participating in the 18-day program will attend lectures at Haiphong University, visit local Japanese companies and Japanese language schools, and learn how the Japanese language, Japanese culture, and Japanese-affiliated organizations contribute to the development of regional communities abroad. They will also collaborate with Haiphong University students to plan and host a Japanese cultural experience event, gaining hands-on experience in intercultural project work.

Students taking part in the 35-day program will continue their training by engaging in a Japanese language teaching practicum at Haiphong University and nearby elementary and secondary schools. In addition to classroom observations and exchanges with local learners and teachers, they will also stand at the front of the classroom, gaining valuable firsthand experience in Japanese language education and exploring future career possibilities.

We are excited to see how the students grow as they encounter new cultures, connect with local communities, and take on new challenges.
