Short-Term Overseas Program in Danang, Vietnam (Spring 2026)Arrival Report (Monday, March 2)

Seven students from the School of Regional Collaborative Inovation participating in the 2026 Spring Short-Term Overseas Program arrived safely in Danang, Vietnam on Monday, March 2. Stepping off the plane, the students were surprised by the intense sunlight and heat—far stronger than they had expected—but were also filled with excitement for the start of their month-long training.

After arriving, the group explored the area around their accommodation, observing the heavy traffic, lively atmosphere, and everyday life of the city. This short-term program aims to foster global perspectives and community engagement skills through intercultural understanding and hands-on approaches to local issues. The program runs from March 2 to April 4, 2026, with activities based in Danang, a major city in central Vietnam. The students will also visit Hoi An during their stay.

Starting tomorrow, they will begin Vietnamese language lessons and exchange with local students at the University of Foreign Language Studies – The University of Danang. Midway through the program, internships at companies in Danang will begin, providing students with opportunities to gain practical experience. In addition, they will participate in collaborative sessions with local university students to discuss regional issues faced by Danang—such as environmental challenges, urban development, and the preservation of cultural heritage—and consider possible solutions together.

Through these activities, the students will deepen their understanding of the local community and develop the ability to envision a “future for the region” that transcends national borders, while engaging directly with local residents.

Throughout the program period, updates on student activities will be posted on note.
