Japan-Vietnam Online International Exchange Learning Project: Guest Speakers from AEON MALL(Monday, July 31)

Ibaraki University and Haiphong University in Vietnam have been conducting international collaborative education using the COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) approach as part of exchange activities between the two institutions. This summer, in this project, students will condct fieldwork at AEON MALL Mito Uchihara in Ibaraki Prefecture and AEON MALL Haiphong Le Trang in Haiphong City, and create digital articles based on their fieldwork. On July 29, Ibaraki University and Haiphong University were connected via ZOOM to invite four people to present their topics: the operations manager of the AEON MALL Mito Uchihara store, the store manager of AEON Style Mito Uchihara, the general manager of AEON MALL Haiphong Le Trang store, and the store manager of AEON Superstore. The students seemed impressed by how Aeon is developing its business in a localized manner while expanding globally.

On the Ibaraki side, we ate pho delivered from a Vietnamese restaurant near the university, and we talked further with staff members of AEON Mall. Three faculty members from Haiphong University, who were in Japan for the visit, also participated and we were able to hear firsthand about the situation in Vietnam.

In the project, students will plan fieldwork at AEON Malls in both regions, with the actual fieldwork taking place at the end of August!
