General Education Course “Regional Project-Based Learning Crossover Faculties IV” Visiting to Hitachinaka City Office(Wednesday, May 29)

In the Genedal Education Course “Regional Project-Based Learning Crossover Faculties IV” taught by faculty members of the Center for Global Engagement, with the cooperation of Hitachinaka City, Hitachinaka International Association, and Nihongo Class Run Run, students learn about the issues in multicultural communities and think about what they can do as a member of a community for multicultural coexistence in the community.

On Wednesday, May 29, we visited Hitachinaka City Office together with Japanese language supporters and Japanese language learners of Nihongo Class Run Run of Hitachinaka International Association. During the visit, students from Ibaraki University and Japanese language learners from Nihongo Class Run Run worked together and asked questions they had thought up in advance to the staff at the City Office in order to understand how each division deals with the situation. Students participating in the course commented, “It was a great experience for me because I had never had a chance to actually talk to someone who works at the city office about what kind of activities they are doing.” and “Before I went to the city hall, I thought there was not much consideration for foreign language speakers, but after talking to the staff today, I have changed my mind.
